GATE 2020 application correction window has been made available by IIT Delhi for specific sections such as exam city, exam paper, category, and Gender on November 19. Candidates may have to pay an additional fee for making the corrections in the GATE applications. The last date for making the aforesaid corrections is yet to be announced.
IIT Delhi has made available the GATE 2020 Mock Test for candidates aspiring to the GATE 2020 exam. Mock Test will help candidates to know about the GATE 2020 exam pattern and also their preparation levels. Candidates can appear for the mock tests on GATE 2020 official portal.
For candidates who have successfully submitted their GATE 2020 application form, IIT Delhi has made available the correction window for them. Through the GATE 2020 application form correction window, candidates will be allowed to correct details such as their name, father’s name, college name, image, and signature, etc. Candidates are required to follow the below-mentioned steps to correct their application form for GATE 2020.
GATE 2020 admit card will be released by the exam conducting authority on January 3, 2020. Successfully registered candidates will only be allowed to download the admit card/hall ticket for GATE 2020 by logging in with the required credentials. The admit card must be kept safe as it will be required for GATE 2020 counselling and admission process.
GATE is an online national level examination conducted for Master of Engineering (ME), Masters in Technology (MTech) and direct PhD admissions to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and other institutes/universities across India. The exam is jointly conducted by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee and Indian Institute for Science, Bangalore (IISC Bangalore), on a rotational basis on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB – GATE), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource & Development (MHRD), Government of India.
IIT Delhi, the exam conducting authority for GATE 2020, announced the dates for the exam on July 9, 2019. GATE 2020 will be held on February 1, 2, 8 and 9 next year. However, the online registration for GATE 2020 was started from August 31, 2019, and the last date to apply for it was September 28. GATE 2020 registration was an online process and last date for the same was September 28 without late fee and October 5 with the late fee.

Through GATE, candidates can seek admission or financial assistance (for admission) to the Master’s programs and doctoral programs in Engineering, Architecture and relevant branches of Science. Qualifying GATE is mandatory for admission to these courses offered at MHRD-supported institutes and other government agencies. These institutes include IITs, IISc, NITs, IIITs, Government-Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) and other universities in India. GATE scores are also used by Public Sector Units (PSUs) for job recruitments.
It must be noted that the GATE score is valid for three years from the date of announcement of results.

However, the candidates who possess certification from any of the professional societies must ensure that those examinations conducted by the societies are approved by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch.
IIT Delhi had made available the GATE 2020 application form online from August 31, 2019. The last date to register for GATE 2020 through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) was September 28, 2019. The last date for application form filling with late fee of Rs 500 was October 5. The GATE 2020 online application submission included steps such as registration, entering essential information like contact, academic and personal details, uploading of photograph, and payment of application fee. Candidates were advised to fill the correct and verifiable information in the GATE 2020 application form. Application forms with wrong information were rejected by the exam conducting authority.
Registration: Candidates were required to register for GATE 2020 before filling the application form. For registration, candidates have to enter details like name, valid email id, country of residence and mobile number. The candidate also had to choose a password for future log-in. An enrolment number for every candidate was generated after the successful registration.
Filling the form: The GATE 2020 application form had sections like – personal, academic and contact details. Candidates had to enter the details in the essential fields of each section, choose the GATE paper they will be appearing in, and select three exam centres.
Uploading photographs: Scanned images of photograph, signature and category certificate (if admission is sought under a particular category) had to be uploaded in the prescribed format.
Application fee payment: The application fee varied on the gender and category of candidates. Application fee for general male candidates was Rs 1500 and for female and reserved category candidates, it was Rs 750. The application fee could be paid in online mode only via net banking, credit or debit cards.

Q. For how many papers, a candidate can apply in GATE 2020?
A. A candidate can apply for only ONE (1) of the 25 papers listed in the GATE 2020 Information Brochure or GATE website. A candidate is expected to appear in a paper appropriate to the discipline of his/her qualifying degree. However, a candidate is free to choose any other paper according to his/her admission plan.
Q. Is a candidate allowed to change his/her GATE Examination Paper after submission of the application?
A. YES. A request for the change of GATE Examination Paper will be entertained against payment. A specific time period for the same will be notified.
Q. Is a candidate allowed to change his/her GATE Examination City after submission of the application?
A. YES, but only after the last date for submission of application, a request for the change of examination city will be entertained against payment. A specific time period for the same will be notified.
Q. Is a candidate allowed to change his/her category after submission of the application?
A. YES, the category change request will be entertained only till November 15, 2019.
Q. Will a candidate be provided with white paper for rough work and calculations during the examination?
A. A scribble pad will be provided to the candidate that can be used to do the rough work which must be returned after the examination.
Q. Will I be allowed to leave the examination hall during the examination?
A. NO. Candidates will NOT be allowed to leave the examination hall for any reason during the examination.
Q. What items are not permitted to be brought with me inside the examination venue?
A. Only Admit Card, Identification Card, and a pen are permitted to be taken inside the examination hall.
Q. Can I use a physical calculator during the examination?
A. NO. During the online GATE 2020 examination, all candidates will be provided with a virtual scientific calculator to answer the questions

Choice of examination city: The candidate can choose three cities from the list of examination cities given in the above table. The first and second choices must be from the same GATE zone and the third choice can be from any GATE zone.
If a candidate chooses a particular city (in a particular zone) as the first choice, then they will be able to choose the city of the second choice only from that particular zone. However, the third choice can be from any one of the listed cities (i.e., no restriction on the zone for the third choice city). Note that, because of the operational constraints, the GATE Committee reserves the right to add a new city or remove an existing one, and allot a city that may not be from any of the choices selected by the candidate.

To correct their application for GATE 2020, candidates have to follow the below-mentioned steps:
GATE exam pattern 2020 will include the number of questions, types of questions and marking scheme for all the 25 papers of GATE. Candidates who wish to appear for GATE 2020 need to familiarise themselves with the exam pattern, syllabus and the marking scheme.
In all the papers, there will be a total of 65 questions carrying 100 marks, out of which 10 questions carrying a total of 15 marks will be of General Aptitude (GA). In the papers bearing the codes AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME,
GATE admit card 2020 will be released by IIT Delhi, the exam conducting authority on January 3, 2020. Registered candidates will be able to download GATE 2020 admit card/hall ticket from the official website of GOAPS by submitting their credentials to log in.
GATE syllabus 2020 for all the 25 papers have been released by IIT Delhi along with the information brochure. GATE 2020 syllabus includes three sections – General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics and subject specific paper as chosen by aspirants while filling the GATE 2020 application form. Candidates can download GATE Syllabus for all the subjects including CSE, ECE, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering.
