What is CMAT?

The CMAT or Common Management Admission Test is an online entrance test conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBA/PGDM courses in over 1000 B-schools across India. CMAT is conducted in online mode in various cities across India. The duration of the exam is three hours within which the candidates are required to answer 100 questions from Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness.

  • The CMAT 2020 aspirant must have completed Graduation in any discipline or equivalent from a recognized university

  • Final year Graduation students (10+2+3) are also eligible to apply for CMAT, provided their results are declared before commencement of admission for 2020

  • About CMAT

    Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national level entrance examination conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year as per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.
    The CMAT is a three hour computer based online test which is conducted in a single session to evaluate the candidate’s ability across various segments like Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness.
    This test facilitates Institutions to select suitable graduate candidates for admission in all Management programs.
    The CMAT score is accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges. The CMAT 2018 will be conducted on 20th January 2018.

Most of the management institutes conduct group discussion and personal interview to select candidates for MBA/PGDM programmes post the declaration of CMAT exam results. Each institute conducts the admission independently and according to their academic cycle.

CMAT Exam Day Guidelines

Candidates appearing for the CMAT 2020 exam must prepare well. Here are some points that you must keep in mind for the exam day:

  • Don’t forget to carry a print out of your CMAT 2020 admit card. Digital, scanned or photocopy of the admit card is not acceptable as valid document

  • Reach your CMAT exam centre 2 hours before the reporting time

  • Do not carry electronic items to the exam venue. You are also advised to not carry valuable items

Along with CMAT 2019 admit card, carry a photo ID as a secondary identity proof. You can carry any of the following documents as your ID proof:

  • Aadhar card

  • PAN card

  • Voter ID card

  • Passport

  • Driver’s license

  • College/University ID card

CMAT 2020: Test Cities and Exam Centres

CMAT 2020 will be held at multiple centres in about 75 cities of India. The aspirants can choose from the city of their preference to appear in the exam. The option to choose a city of one’s choice will be given to each candidate at the time of filling up the CMAT 2020 application form. Each aspirant can choose four cities as their preferred test

Q: How many times is CMAT exam held in a year?

A: The CMAT is held once a year in the month of January. The exam is conducted at various exam centres across 75 cities in India. You could choose the test city according to your preference.

Q: Is CMAT conducted online or offline?

A: CMAT exam is conducted online. The candidates are required to punch in their answers with the help of keypad and mouse of the computer system provided.

Q: How many times can I attempt CMAT?

A: You can attempt CMAT exam any number of times. However, score of the last CMAT exam will be taken into account at the time of admission.

Q: I have scored less than 50 per cent marks in Graduation. Am I eligible to apply for CMAT?

A: Yes, you are eligible to apply for CMAT.

Q: For how long is CMAT score valid for admission to MBA institutes?

Q. Till when will the CMAT result be available for download on the official website?

A: The CMAT result will be preserved up to 60 days from the date of declaration. Candidates must download their scorecards before that.
